Take the pledge

I won’t support animals exploited and harmed for human entertainment

Spectator ‘sports’, rodeos, circuses, and other similar events subject animals to torment, fear, and suffering — all for a fleeting moment of human ‘entertainment’. The animals are typically provoked and forced to perform ‘wild’ and unnatural behaviours, or demeaning ‘tricks’ to entertain a crowd.

What might seem like harmless fun for you, spells agony and suffering for the animals, as these events often lead to severe stress, injury, and even death for the animals.

This pledge signifies solidarity with the growing movement advocating for a compassionate world for animals, where they are treated with respect and dignity.

By taking this pledge to not support the use and exploitation of animals for entertainment, you are saying: “I don’t believe that an animal should suffer for my entertainment. I am joining the increasing number of people who are choosing to not support legalised cruelty of animals, and committing to making compassionate choices."

Take the pledge and help us build a compassionate future for animals.

Rodeo events are legalised cruelty.

On New Year's Day 2023, Animal Liberation agents attended the Moruya rodeo. They captured evidence of workers hitting animals, pulling on their horns and ears, and twisting their tails. They documented highly distressed calves, steers, bulls, and broncs, and an extreme injury to one steer.

We lodged a formal complaint with RSPCA NSW, and provided Eurabadella Shire Council with our allegations of animal cruelty. Despite the RSPCA applying two financial penalties, the council took minimal action and the Moruya Rodeo has continued to take place.

You can view Animal Liberation’s application under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act), to RSPCA NSW.

On Friday 3 November 2023, Animal Liberation agents attended the J&J Rodeo bull riding event in Murwillumbah, NSW.

We witnessed bulls being provoked and tormented into performing "wild" behaviours for a jeering crowd. The bulls were displaying signs of distress from drooling and white eye to uncontrollably spinning, pawing at the ground, and ramming the chutes and arena walls. It was alarming and distressing to watch.

We have lodged a formal complaint with RSPCA NSW and provided footage to support our animal cruelty allegations.

The footage below was captured by Animal Liberation agents.
