NSW Animal Welfare Submission Guide

SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

The NSW Government is currently in the process of consolidating its animal welfare framework.
This reform will impact the lives of millions of animals.

The government has invited you to have your say by midnight, 17 September.

This is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our community to have our say about animal welfare laws. It's our chance to say what we want to change to make them more effective, fair, and compassionate.

Unfortunately, the discussion paper is toothless and does not change much of the existing laws governing animal welfare in NSW. And, unlike other recent reforms elsewhere in Australia, it fails to recognise the importance of sentience. This makes it even more important that you have your say today.

Do you want...

  • stronger penalties for animal cruelty?

  • a ban on farming ducks without water?

  • a ban on mulesing and other cruel procedures?

  • more transparency?

  • more accountability?

  • more compassion in our animal welfare laws?

Now is your chance.

Please use our template to help you have your say today. Remember that opportunities close at midnight on 17 September, so please send your submission as soon as possible.

You can reach out by replying to this email if you have any questions or need further assistance in sending your submission.
